My Beliefs

I would say the biggest part of my life, aside from my family, is my religion, my faith.  I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I was raised in this church and am raising my children in the same.  It is my guidepost, the way of life for me.  I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet in the 1800's and translated the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know this because I have had borne witness to me that it is so.  Joseph Smith was a modern day prophet, and we have one still today, President Thomas S. Monson.

I know that by living the gospel standards and keeping the commandments of God will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father. I know Heavenly Father is real, that His Son Jesus Christ died for our sins, and rose again on the 3rd day.  I know, that because of Jesus, and eternal families, I WILL see my baby McKenna again someday. I have no doubt about that whatsoever.

The faith in which I belong is not a "Sunday only" religion.  It is a religion I try to live each and every day of my life.  A little synopsis:

*  I don't drink alcohol
*  Do not smoke, or take any form of illegal drugs
*  Do not drink coffee or tea
*  Pay a tithing of 10% of our earnings
*  Attend church meetings for 3 hours each Sunday, along with other meetings during the week for     youth
*  Try my best to have daily scripture study along with prayer, individually and as a family
*  Family Home Evening each week, usually on Monday
*  Keeping the Sabbath day holy by not participating in any sporting events, or going to the store, or participating in recreational activities.  I firmly believe in this commandment, that not only do we as members of our church try to commit too, but it is one of the 10 Commandments as well.  It is a day of rest that the Lord has asked us to acknowledge.  We have 6 other days of the week to do all those other things, why can't Sunday be put aside in dedication and worship to our Lord?
*  I believe that marriage IS between one man and one woman

There are many other things that can describe me as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but first and foremost would have to do with family.  Our church is one that strongly believes in families.  Our lives are centered around the gospel and our family; whether it be between our spouse with or without children, our grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.  This is what it is all about.

My hope is to be able to live with my family eternally, having lived the way God desires me to live.  It is a daily battle, but one in which is worth the outcome that is awaiting.
